gvim in text only mode?

Is there any way of having gvim display the text portion only? ... ie. no menu-bar

Why would you want that?? It would be just like using vim:
xterm -e vim

or whatever terminal emulator you want.

You'll need to put the following in your ~/.gvimrc file. If you don't have it do a
find / *gvimrc*

no toolbar

if that doesn't work try:

unmenu ToolBar
unmenu! ToolBar

it won't remove them but grey them out.

Thank you darthtux for steering me in the right direction!
I also found ":help guioptions" to be full of nice features

Ifur: I'm happy for you that you do not see how gvim with no gui differs from xterm's rendering, but I do.
