Grub prohibits CD-ROM from mounting in WinXP

I am dual booting WinXP and Xubuntu on two seperate drives. When I boot into WinXP the CD (Sony CD-RW, CRX185E1)does not mount automatically. I can get it mounted fairly quickly by running the Add New Hardware control panel. After the initial scan I cancel the rest of the process because I can see that the CD is mounted because the packet writing software icon in the Task Bar changes color. It seems to be Grub because I had Ubuntu installed then decided to go with Xubuntu, so I ran the fixMbr so I could do a clean install of Xubuntu. In the interim when I booted into WinXP the CD mounted ok, but as soon as I installed Xubuntu, the behavior started again. Not a critical thing but kind of annoyance as I still have to boot into WinXP daily, but I am stumped. Help is appreciated.

Dude, grub has nothing to do with your CDROM automounting under Windows.
What you have is a Windows problem, not a Linux problem despite your happenstance evidence....

Yeah, GRUB unly chooses what OS to boot into. The rest is up to the OS you are booting into.
