Post GRUB & boot disk

I currently have a dual boot PC with redhat 7.2 and WinXP pro. GRUB was installed as part of the RH setup and this does the booting. I need to install win 98 so that I can use my CDRW, the problem I have is that I cannot boot the system using a win98 boot disk (so that I can do the install). I am pretty sure that GRUB is causing this. Is there any way round this? Or should this be possible.

Any advise is appreciated (please no replies suggesting I don't install windoze)

Thanks

D

I can pretty much guarantee that Grub is not causing your Win98 boot floppy to not be recognized. Please ensure that your BIOS boot sequence is set to use the floppy first. Then insert the boot floppy into your drive and re-boot.

How about replies about using your CDRW in Linux? You can burn CD's in Linux, there are several programs allowing this. Before I give a long explanation on how-to, does this sound like something you would like to try before putting that VIRUS of an OS back on your system?

Hi, thanks for the replies. Not GRUB? Correct! I have since created a new boot disk and I can boot to DOS, however I cannot just install win98 because it wants the primary partition to not be NTFS e.g. FAT32. As far as setting up the CDRW under linux, that would be great and I'd appreciate if anyone knows a good place to look for drivers. But, the main reason I want to use the CDRW in win98 is because I upload Digital-camera images onto my Win XP partition (bear with me now!) but unfortunately the CD software does not support XP and I don't want to pay an upgrade fee since this is almost as much as new (faster) drive. So CDRW support under linux would be most useful if I can access the NTFS partition on the machine - is this possible?

Thanks

D

there is only one chance if you have any other free primary dos partition with fat32 for win98 but advise yo to not do this this can corrupt yout linux .
and you can mount your ntfs partition through this
command
mout -t filesystem /dev/hd?? /any place /
eg..
mount -t ntfs /dev/hda1 /mnt/
