Question giFT trouble.

I'm having some giFT trouble. giFT says

$ giFT

*** ERROR: Your setup is incomplete ***

You will need to run giFT-setup and be sure that you read absolutely
every configuration option (no, really). If you are unable to complete
giFT-setup, you may optionally copy the contents of the etc/ directory
with the distribution to /boot/home/.giFT/.

even if I configured it over and over . This is From my compile session:

-------------------- core ---

libgift.................: yes
gift daemon.............: yes
use ltdl................: no

--------------- protocols ---

OpenFT..................: yes
Gnutella................: no

-------------- extensions ---

use zlib................: yes
use perl................: no (support temporarily deprecated)
use libdb...............: no

--------- meta data tools ---

use id3lib..............: no
use libvorbis...........: no
use ImageMagick.........: no

-----------------------------

Deos anyone know if the problem may be because of no libdb/id3lib/vorbis/magick ?

I'm not sure what frontend you are using for giFT but I suggest using giFTcurs. Its text based and really easy to use w/less memory usage.

My only suggestion is to check your gift.conf file and make sure the setup line is not set to 0 otherwise it will not connect to openFT.

[root@ileana-isabella root]# cat /opt/giFT/etc/gift.conf | grep setup
setup = 1
[root@ileana-isabella root]#

Hope this helps. If not I'm sure someone else can hook you up.

I believe libDB and libid3 are necessary for using the OpenFT network.

http://gift.sourceforge.net/docs.php...html#id2803567

If possible, install them and see if it helps. You could also post your gift.conf file to see if there are any mistakes in it (you may want to scratch out anything personal - eg. directories, connections - if you are paranoid).

Forgot to respond to shaggz:

The frontend used does not matter, since it's giFT which does not want to start. Still, giFTcurs is very sleek.
