fstab help

I added this line to /etc/fstab so Red Hat would automaticly mount my windows partition at boot time. But, it's not working. It's saying I have to be root to mount the partition. I usually just label the partition "/windows" at installation and it's configured for me and read-only for all users, but I didn't remember to do it till it was too late. Here's the line:

/dev/hda1 /windows vfat auto,owner,kudzu 0 0

Take a look at this thread, and see if there's any help here.

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ighlight=fstab

If not, try searching this site for "fstab" (without the quotes); there are at least a dozen threads with similar issues

Good luck

hmm, after a lot of searching, it still isn't working.

/dev/hda1 /windows vfat auto,owner,uid=500,umask 022 0 0

On boot, I'm getting a mount point not defined error. In KDE, it says mount point does not exist.

You apparently don't have the mount point /windows. Labeling the partition /windows has nothing to do with mounting it. Run the command mkdir /windows and try again. Also, there should be an ' = ' between umask and 022 . Like this:

/dev/hda1 /windows vfat auto,owner,uid=500,umask=022 0 0
