What is the Linux command to format a hard drive (/dev/hda1) in Reiser fs format

use cfdisk to partition it and then have a look at man mkreiserfs

I use fdisk. Is cfdisk better than fdisk ?

I like cfdisk better, fdisk is ok but not enough visual feedback for me especially when doing something as potentially disastrous as partioning a drive.
cfdisk has a gui of sorts that runs in console mode, ncurses I guess.

yeah, apparently you can do more with fdisk, but cfdisk is more like the dos fdisk command. you have a lot more options than evil microsoft though.

my apologies if the next questions are out of place, but i need some info about how to use an old hard drive that i was using for Win2K in a redhat box with double booting, i decided i would like to see that hd being part of my /home and get rid of Win.
There are several issues: i'm a newbie, but seriously, very very newbie, so i don't even know how to tell if that hd is mounted or not. i'm running ximian and i cannot find a nice graphic app where to do this stuff...
i think, that the kernel startup logo helped knowing that from the following lines:

why it says 'host protected'?

and finally, since hda is not UDMA 100, would that fall into troubles since i'd be using hard drives with different UDMA for /home?

Hi this is my first time using this site. I need to find out if my harddrive is hda1 or something else. How can I find this information out?

is there a list somewhere that has what the command is to format to say like xfs, or ext3, or hfs, and ntfs? i know ext3 is mkfs.ext3.
