Fed up with Yahoo and looking for something else or better

I have been using Yahoo for years, longer than I have been using Linux even.
Every once in a while I see a news video I'd like to watch but because of Yahoo's BS video viewing requirements I can watch the commercials just fine (naturally) but after that the news video won't play. I really dislike using wine but I know this is a work around. I can run Windows as a VM (which I do if I must do something in AutoCAD .dwg format) but I don't want to do my browsing in a VM.
Does anyone know a decent home page on the order of Yahoo where everything will work with Firefox Linux?

I'm not sure if igoogle could be better

You could look into igoogle and see if their widget customization features will let you build your home page to your preference. I'm not sure how strictly you are tied to yahoo mail etc....

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like something I can live with unless there are some other suggestions. I have an on-line Yahoo mail but it's 99.9% junk. If I needed it I'd pay the basic and just pop it. I can probably see if I can find that old gmail account I once set up. Thanks again - I'd never have thought of it.

No need to pay to pop it - tbird has plugins that allow you to retrieve most webmail...

My DSL provider has a deal with Yahoo. I get all the regular yahoo stuff plus "ABC news now". Most of their videos work with flash player, but some require wmp. I use mplayerplug-in as well as flash and never have any problems with their video.
