Error running yum update

Hi guys,
I want to update my fedora 13 OS but I'm getting error messages both when i use yum update and the software update GUI; i think the problem is linked to the package kit yum update i did a few days ago 'cos since then when i do a yum install i always get the following error after a successful installation and i tried to yum downgrade but it didn't work:

ERROR:dbus.proxies:Introspect error on :1.114:/org/freedesktop/PackageKit: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)
Unable to send message to PackageKit

Now when i tried a yum update i get the following error and even software update GUI gives a similar error:

--> Running transaction check

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

Thanks

I don't know if this will help but I tracked the message to the following.
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...epository.html

Looks like ftgl.i686 0:2.1.3-0.3.rc5.fc13 cannot be updated at this time. You can either A remove ftgl.i686 0:2.1.3-0.3.rc5.fc13 or try --skip-broken.

Regards

Thanks rayfward, i have been able to resolve the reason i was not able to do the yum update;i wanted to install gnome-shell and instead of first trying my installed repositories i merely configured gnome-shell-F13.repo, i guess it was because i found out about gnome-shell from this site http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/DistributionPackages while browsing that made me follow the instruction blindly gnome-shell-F13.repo(i have now removed the file:/etc/yum.repos.d/gnome-shell-F13.repo) and it introduced conflict that made yum update give error messages.
Regards
