Unhappy drives

Hi i.m new at Linux as you will see but i'm wanting to play cd's when working on Linux, but when ever i try to mount cd drive it comes up with

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

Or if i use Audio Player how do i tell it the path to the cd drive?
Its getting annoying as i can't listen to any music will working please HELP.

Cheers in advance

An audio CD does not contain a valid file system and can not be mounted.

It depends on which player your using but there should be a setup button.

What player application are you using? Make sure the mixer volume controls for the CD are not muted and are not at the min level.

Kcd requires an audio cable between the drive and the sound card. The latest version of xmms does not require an audio cable.
