does anyone use Swap?


increasing swap on a slow pc

Can someone post the 'skinny' on configuring swap. BTW the distribution is Fedora 2 and the PC is a Pentium 4 with 256mb Ram

what files do I edit?
what else needs to be considered?

Swap is a partition dedicated solely to swap useage, it is generally created during setup. If the machine is going to slow I really doubt increasing swap is going to make it any better.

How much swap space are you useing now???

free -m will tell you how much swap you have now... post the output of the command.

-/+ buffers/cache: 151 99
Swap: 511 2 509
