Does any video format have the equivalent of id3 tags?

I was thinking of ripping all my dvds to a computer and watching it off of there. I have a LOT of them and it's a bit of a pain to go through all the cases to find one. Also, it would save on wear/tear on the disc itself.

I was wondering if one of the formats divx, xvid, or another has the ability to put tags like title, actors, genre so that I could search for all movies with Keanu Reeves or all comedies on my computer, similar to what I can do with amarok and mp3s, oggs, and wmas.

Thanks,

Don't OGM and Matroska have that?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Once I had the names of those containers, I was able to go on google and find out more about them.

Looks like OGM is a bastard son, but Theora is in the ogg container and, from what I read in the Theora spec, it can hold tags. Excellent! If only they would finish up with Theora....
