dash every time I hit enter in gnome (rh9) in everything

dash every time I hit enter in gnome (rh9) in everything
Every time I hit enter in gnome for rh9 (whether it be in mozilla, terminal, nautilus, etc. etc.) in stead of justa new line, it starts off the break with a dash. As you can understand this would be frustrating when trying to write code or execute commands.
This is what i see when I hold down enter
