Hi!!! I'm a slackware's user and I 'd like to print in a Windows XP attached printer. So I using a slackware machine and I don't get printing anywhere. Is it possible to print in this windows printer unless a samba programm with a IPP protocol ??? Are there some configuration in CUPS to get it???? If I must use samba/cups can indicate a tuto????
The easiest way to configure a CUPS printer is to use the browser and bring up:
Code:
http://localhost:631/
Configure the printer as a "Windows Printer via SAMBA", and use this type of URI:
Code:
smb://hedgehog/CX5000
Note that "hedgehog" is the name of the Windows machine, and CX5000 is the printer share name on that Windows machine. Post any issues you have from trying this, and I'll try to help from there.
Thanks all!!! I 've done http://localhost:631/admin and configurated it, but test page failed. So I need that my slackware machine prints on a HPprinter attached in a windows xp system and a Cups and Samba configuration for IPP protocol is essencial. Then slackware is guest and windows xp is host, ok???

That link is directly to your own cups documentation on your machine. Do you have cups up and running? Can you access http://localhost:631/?
Good luck. ;-)
