combining music output

I have two mp3 files on my disk - one of some music and one of spoken word, which I can play together, but running two concurrent mpg123 processes.

Can anyone think of a way of capturing the tesultant audio output and piping it into a file, which I might then be able to do something useful with.. ie re-encode back into mp3 format.

Just a bit of fun, really
