cannot start x (gnome)

hello,

ok, i have recently installed vector linux twice and now slackware, and every time i try to start gnome after logging in i get the message:

'window manager cannot start x display'.

i can use other wm's but after exiting to the command prompt there are many lines that say:

gtk error, cannot locate loadable module "libbluecurve.so", and something about <module path>

i know the libbluecurve file is there in gtk directory, so do i need to somehow point something towards it? i really dont know?

Try:

ldconfig

Now try to start it up again.
What's the exact error?
