cannot boot from CD drive.

Hya,

I need to check whether or not problem is hardware related on one of my laptops.

So, I am trying to install BSD and Widowes. However, this laptop does not like to boot from CD. BIOS setting is CD -> HD -> FDD... There is no FD bay. (These CD's work with my other laptops as boot image. Drive itself works well for read/write)

What else can I do? or this proves that something is wrong with logic board?

Any ideas?

Happy Penguins!

P.S. I am not quite sure if this topic is within LinuxQuestions.

Thanks for reply.

I have already tried three functional CD's and USB boot. Nothing works.

Hya,

Yeah, I agree, and I have not tried yet. I do not have any wired network now. Everything is wireless.

Hya,

It turned out to be "pretending functional CD/DVD drive". It works for read/write. Occasionally works for boot.

I do not know how to make further diagnosis.

Happy Penguins!
