Alright, i have a problem here. I Cant boot up my computer. What the operating system is supposed to start i get a blinking underline on the screen. I cant boot from hard drive, cd/dvd-rom or USB. What can i do in this position?
Start grub menu? It's the "Esc" key, right? It doesn't happen anything when press that button neither, it's just continue to the blinking underline.
I've seen that occur before due to some faulty or otherwise forgotten about USB device. Check that nothing unusual is plugged in, then remove everything but the mouse keyboard and power and see if that doesn't get you up and running.
Please describe your situation a little more please. For instance, what shows up on screen from the instant you turn on the computer and at which point does the problem occur. Any error messages besides just the blinking cursor?
One thing I would check is the your boot order. If your hard drive is listed before your CD and USB drives, then you may not necessarily be able to boot from CD or USB.

The first thing that shows up is the name and size of my graphic card as a short text. Then we have the motherboard option and after that is my operating system supposed to start. This is what's happening:
Verifying DMI Pool Data...
Boot from CD/DVD rom:
Loading grub menu...
And the next screen is a blinking underline. The only thing I think I can do when the blinking underline is there is to press Ctrl, Alt and Delete to reboot.
What message do you see if you try to boot from cd? Are you running Ubuntu 9.10? If so, did you install it from scratch or upgrade to 9.10?
The thing is that there ain't no error message. There is just a blinking underline where the OS is trying to start up. I have 9.10 and i installed it from scratch.
I know i had the same problem on my brothers computer. When i tried to boot from Ubuntu Live CD i had to wait like 60 minutes for it to start (60 minutes with the blinking underline) and when the OS started it was unusable because it took like hours just to start the terminal.. But then all the suddenly it was working to format and install Windows XP.
If i want to reinstall grub at this point, is that possible in any how?
Finally! I'm running Ubuntu Live CD! I burned a new CD with Ubuntu and changed a setting in BIOS so the OS would start even if there was an error. I don't know if it was the BIOS setting or the new CD that made it work but I still cant start the HDD and when i started the CD I spotted an I/O error on device sr0. I wonder if that could be the HDD.
Well, now I can remove and install the grub menu and if that doesn't work I'll be forced to reinstall Ubuntu, again...
sr0 seems to bee my CD. One more thing. I tried to start Supergrub by CD but the same thing happens when I start the HDD. A message that says Disk is not valid.
