Best mp3 player?

From http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-news-59/2007-linuxquestions.org-members-choice-award-winners-622825/]this link it's obvious that most users here at lq.org like the Amarok the most when it comes to dealing with a large collection of music.

So which mp3 player do most Linux users prefer?

I've had a quick look around at amazon.com and it looks like the 80GB iPod gives you the most GB per dollar when compared with other players, so I suppose this is what most people use.

If I had the $200 or so, I'd buy it immediately. But aside from being slightly overpriced (imho), the iPod isn't really practical for working out I guess. Also, I wouldn't want to drop or lose it - which is why I'd rather buy a cheap (<$100) mp3 player that has flash memory (but still has a good GB/$ ratio).

Which one would you recommend?

I just purchased a SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 player that is very small and has a built in clip for attaching to your clothes that I use for working out etc. It has surprisingly good sound and with some decent earphones it really improved the quality. The 2GB model is about $60. It can appear as a mass storage module so no special software required but it is only capable of WMA and MP3 audio formats. It also has a FM tuner with decent reception.

michaelk: Thanks for the hint, I'll remember to get a player that has a clip or loop of some sort to keep it in place.

I'm still not quite sure which mp3 player I should buy, but this list has narrowed the options down a bit, because I have a lot of files in the FLAC format:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLAC#Hardware_support

I just discovered that you can even run a variety of Linux (Rockbox) on a couple of players, so that might be another thing worth considering when choosing a player.

On a side note: Linux was the only reason why I bought a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router and almost everyone I asked on IRC channels, forums, etc, told me to get one of those (apparently not just because Linksys was supporting Linux, but also because their routers are good).

So I'm surprised that there's no standard player that Linux users swear by. Or isn't Rockbox useful enough to be an argument for exclusion (of most players)?
