bash


when I try to install bash-2.05-7.i386.rpm I get an error saying
error: failed dependencies:
/bin/sh is needed by bash-2.05-7
/bin/sh is needed by bash-2.05-7

/bin/sh is needed by bash-2.05-7
/bin/sh is needed by DEV-3.4-2

ect...

how could it be overwrite /bin/sh and needing it at the same time? I don't get this.

bash doesn't overwrite sh, they should both be installed together. what opptiosn are you trying to install it with? additionally why are you tryign to install it?... it should already be installed by default...

rpm -Uvh bash-2.0.5-7.i686.rpm

I need a newer version in order to install some packages

I used --nodeps to install it, but the older version is still installed and the newer version didn't install properly because it conflicted with something else.

I need to get rid of the old bash because it conflicts with a rpm I want to install.

How do I get rid of just one?
