backing up a LV

guys, I was trying to make a back up of my server installation booting off a livecd (sysrescuecd) and using partimage to create an image of my installation, but partimage will not recognize the LV. How could I backu up this partition?

Boot using the Original CentOS disk and at the prompt enter linux rescue, this should boot your rescue CD and will enable logical volumes. There's a question during rescue mode to find and mount the disk. Once you've got the logical volume mounted you should be able to sort out a network interface and copy the data.

If you want to backup the entire disk as an image, you could look at clonezilla.
