anyway to tell


Is there anyway i can tell how much cpu usage i am using in Redhat8.0?

Use WindowMaker and load up some cool-looking graphic applets such as at dockapps.org.

In RedHat 8.1 beta there is kinda a CPU graph monitor looking application. Perhaps a new application to KDE or Gnome?

I second the gkrellm bit, and think that's what you are referring to SML.

top works fine for occasional use, but if you want to see constant realtime cpu usage stats, gkrellm is the best way to go IMO.

in rh 8, i really think just plain gnome 2, there is a program called system monitor, the second tab has a cpu chart.

In KDE you can use "kmenu->system tools->system monitor" which will give you a GUI real-time moving graph of your CPU and RAM usage.

As always, a million ways to do the same thing...

well top works just fine for me bc all im doing is testing how much cpu usage this one program is pulling. thanks for the input. i might have to try some of the others.
