It will be good to make the partition fat32, for example. It'll be better for Linux. What you need do do is just to format the partition (in Linux or Windows; in Linux use mkfs). Then modify entry in fstab to vfat and it's done.

You can go to freshmeat and read all about it. Very likely, it's on your Linux distro CDs, somewhere. Since it is GTK-based, it will probably be grouped with some of the Gnome things. It works like many of the on-line messenger programs (AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, etc.) and can be configured for your lists and the different protocols used by each.

i downloaded it and its perfect!! thanks guyz for the info but i need your help still with this partition thing! also one other thing so let me start !

ok i have 2 drives in my comp one is a 40 gig ibm drive and the other is a 80 gig ibm drive ok

the first is only for windows use ok

the second is is partition like so i think i gave my linux partition 30 gig in total for install ( u know /boot, /swap /, etc..) and the rest 50 was just formatted back to ntfs

the 40 gig hard disk is on ide controller 0 ok and the is on its own, and on ide 1 i have my cdrom rom and writer, the second hard disk is on a promise ultra ata 133tx controller card and i think it is known as .dev/hdf (how do i confirm this ?)

so i want to now format the remaing partition in linux to a fat32 partition! how do i do this ? also then exactly how do i add this partiton to linux ? please remmebr the hard disk is on a controller card so i need to confirm that it is /dev/hdf/ and then also i want to dlete the NTFS partition only #as the other partitions contains LINUX!!!

and the last question at the moment i am using the redhat linux 7.3 beta 2 as i am waiting for my distro to arrive by post when i get it can i just do a straight upgrade ?? or do i have to reinstall etc.. ??

thanks for all your help Kashif
