Smile Accessing another IDE Drive in Linux

Let's say I have another IDE drive installed in my system aside from my Primary master, lets say that second drive occupy my Second Primary master (/dev/hdc) and this IDE drive contains 3 partitions. How could I mount this partitions so that it could be accessed in my RH Linux (7.2) environment. This second IDE drive contains the Win98SE so it uses FAT32.

I tried this:

mkdir /mnt/disk2

mount -t vfat /dev/hdc1 /mnt/disk2

what would be that hdc??? if it would be the second and third partitions.

Thanks.....

Sincerely;
Ian Ace

IF it is partition 2 then it would be --> /dev/hdc2
IF it is partition 3 then it would be --> /dev/hdc3

If the first one is /dev/hda, then usually the second drive is
/dev/hdb.
/dev/hdc is the third.

Before trying to mount, do a
#fdisk /dev/hdc
If you get an error message, the /dev/hdc doesn't exist.
give then try to '#fdisk /dev/hdb". Most likely , it will work.

Once youa re able able to fdisk into /dev/hdb, (or hdc), type
p to print the partition map. And post the output here.

FYI, Under regular conditions, you need not enter '-t vfat' to mount.

If your drivers are connected using the same cable, the second one is /dev/hdb. To see its partitions, run
fdisk /dev/hdb
and then press 'p' to list partitions.

FYI:
Primary IDE Controller;
Master: /dev/hda
Slave: /dev/hdb

Secondary IDE Controller;
Master: /dev/hdc usally cdrom
Slave: /dev/hdd

hd*1 = first primary partition, up to 4 with no extended, 3 with extended
hd*5 = first logical/extended partition up to ?
