It didn't work. Please read the following:
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]# urpmi abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm
Some package requested cannot be installed:
abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586 (due to unsatisfied libwv-1.0.so.2) (Y/n)
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]# y
bash: y: command not found
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]#
What is the problem?
Is the downloaded 'abiword-2.2.5-0-1010.1.i586.rpm ' is corrupted?
Gins:
libenchant.so.1 is needed by abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1
libstdc++.so.6 is needed by abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1
libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4) is needed by abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1
libwv-1.0.so.2 is needed by abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1
Mandrake uses libstdc++ 5, so you should get 6 and install it. Also, the other libraries should be installed as well, because abiword can't work without libraries like libenchant, libstdc++ and libwv. That's what a dependency is; something the program needs in order to run properly. So, download the libraries as rpm (Google for them), install them and try again. This should work.

I made some google search and install them on the root. I created a folder called 'abi' and put the file inside it.

Hello
I did what you suggested. It didn't work. Please read the following output:
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]# urpmi abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm
Some package requested cannot be installed:
abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586 (due to unsatisfied libwv-1.0.so.2) (Y/n) Y
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]#
I press the upper case Y and pressed enter.
What is the problem? Your help is deeply appreciated.
I made another attempt just changing onto the 'abi' folder where the filie lies. I got the same results. I pressed the upper case Y and pressed enter. Why is this?
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]# cd abi/
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 abi]# ls
abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 abi]# urpmi abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm
Some package requested cannot be installed:
abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586 (due to unsatisfied libwv-1.0.so.2) (Y/n) Y

Why don't you just add the urpmi setting which is indicated on this site ? I tried to install XFCE 4.2 in any other way than using urpmi (copy the name of the file beginning with urpmi.addmedia etc..) open a console , become root, paste it, and that's ok, than go to RPMDrake, don't bother with messages like "bad signatures" or the like, and that's it ! XFCE was my second GUI option at boot !
If you don't add the list in your sources, you won't be able to download !. Don't forget to sometimes update your sources, too
Try it
Cheers !
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]# cd abi/
[root@h27n2fls301o1037 abi]# urpmi abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm
The following packages have bad signatures:
abiword-2.2.5-0.1010.1.i586.rpm: Invalid signature ((SHA1) DSA sha1 md5 (GPG) (M ISSING KEY) GPG#8b9e12ab NOT OK)
Do you want to continue installation ? (y/N) y

I tried in vain the following:
[hey@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]$ abiword
abiword: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[hey@h27n2fls301o1037 hey]$
Another Slack advantage: its AbiWord works fine, KWord (or how it's called), too
It seems to me that I had the same problem with Mdk9.2. The problem: no libstdc++.so.6. Yes, I was wondering too, why this or that doesn't work... now... ok, ok... Sorry
To kornerr : we all know you hate Mdk, so it is no need posting about it again, right ?
He does not want to change and use Slack for the moment, right ?
So try to help him instead of bashing MDK, otherwise.. Ok ? see what I mean, Ok ??
I also use Slack, it's good but no better than MDK, just different.
Now, to Gins, did you try to do what I suggested to you ?
Why not go to RPMDrake, uninstall abiword, if you can find it, and try the procedure I evoked ?
Can't tell you more, or upgrade to 10.1, perhaps you won't get that prob any longer. But you should first do what I suggested.

What do you mean by this site? Could you please tell me the exact site to download?
Our Russian friend is trying to help me. We should appreciate his contribution here. Things are individual. Someone may dislike SuSe and love Mandrake. So is our Russian friend.
I don't hate Windwos but I like Linux as I find a quite a novelty in it.
We should learn to know the differences among people, cultures etc. I always try my best to use the best polite language in any issues on Internet forums. I appreciate everybody who voulateers to help me.
As a matter fact, I am involved in several other forums. They have nothing to do with computing.
