I have to agree with ErV
I aint no geek. It wasn't long ago that I didn't know what a linux was. I thought it was some sort of cat in South America.
When I started running Slack I didn't know anything about linux because I was use to distros that had a gui for everything. I don't have a computer background at all.
Point is, Slack is for anyone willing to do a little reading.. u-read > u-install > u-like

I know I shouldn't say this because it will ruffle some tail feathers but:
I seems like I get more “knowledgeable” help on the “Slack” forum than what I was used to on the forums of other distros..

That is you can use binary packages through "Pacman" and use gentoo style compiles by "Arch Build System" if you need a new driver or version.

Has anyone tried it?

Thanks :
I've used it casually and liked it for a desktop system, I've some friends who have used it extensively for a longer period of time and swear by it.

I have been surprised at the number of people that use Linux for "traditional Desktop" purposes. It may be "bullshit" in that regard, but I think the "myth" (which is anything but) stems from command-line users. I would be entertained to hear a command-line-jockey try to explain how/why they are not a nerd.

In short:
1) command-line-jockey doesn't equal to nerd or geek.
2) no one has to explain/prove your anything.
3) rethink your arguments/point of view.
