[mandrake 9.0] e-tech wlan pci lan card

Hi everyone,

I've got the following situation. I have Mandrake 9.0 up and running on my server. In the server the're 3 nic's/ On of them is a wlan pci card from e-tech. The other two cards gave no problems during the install and work fine ( I already have internet for the client with ICS)
But I also want wireless internet.

Oke, when I go to /boot I see:

boot.0300 map
config@ message@
config-2.4.21-0.13mdk message-graphic
config-2.4.21-0.13mdksecure message-text
grub/ System.map@
initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdk.img System.map-2.4.21-0.13mdk
initrd-2.4.21-0.13mdksecure.img System.map-2.4.21-0.13mdksecure
initrd.img@ us.klt
initrd-secure.img@ vmlinuz@
kernel.h@ vmlinuz-2.4.21-0.13mdk
kernel.h-2.4.21-0.13mdk vmlinuz-2.4.21-0.13mdksecure
kernel.h-2.4.21-0.13mdksecure vmlinuz-secure@

So then my kernel version is 2.4.21 right? Oke if that's true I also heard that this version already has wlan support (?) In slackware I saw that when you do make xconfig from the command prompt a tool is starting up with al lot of settings (I tought for changing some kernel settings). But I can't find that tool in Mandrake.
What I also heard is there is a command named 'iwconfig' to see information of your wlan card. But when I do this I get:
bash: iwconfig: command not found.

Possible solutions:

- recompile kernel (never done that before)!
- get the right drivers (I searched but didn't find anything usefull)

Is there anybody dealing with the same problems and can help me out with this one??

thanks in advance!

It depends on the card's chipset... the kernel has had various support for wireless cards going back to 1999 and around 2.2.12, but what really matters is what card you have, and really... what its chipset is. No need to sweat compiling the whole kernel, it'll just be a matter of compiling the right drivers against your current kernel.

/sbin/lspci

And post that back here.

Cheers,
