Why wouldn't you use an existing one, like GitHub? Or, for that matter, Sourceforge or Google Code?

for the same reason that i've my own video sharing site (see below) , independency basically besides i've my own server already so better make good use of it . on the other hand i've issues with the way sf or google code handles certain things , in particular it discriminates against users from certain countries , under so-called US export restrictions and bla bla bla....i don't tolerate that because open source is supposed to be accessible to all countries and dealing with it as if it's a "US product" or even bargaining with it for political ends is absolutely dishonest.
