Either download and install wine (winehq.org) or buy Cedega (www.transgamming.com). Both of these products will play Starcraft and other games in Linux.

Look at http://www.winehq.com

There is info that will tell you about wine and games that will run on it.

I've got a problem with wine running starcraft. At first, after I used wine to run the install off the disk, it installed fine to drive_c/Program Files. Then whenever I tried to run the actual program, it would tell me it was lacking a file from the disk and to check if it was in (it was, and accessible through /cdrom). Then, after I added my cdrom drive as type:CDRom to winecfg, whenever I try to run it it crashes X and takes me back to KDM. Same thing happens with Tiberian Sun, incidentally.

Sorry for the bump, but can someone help me out? It further turns out that I can no longer run anything graphical as root (e.g. synaptic). This is really screwing me up.

EDIT: Never mind, fixed that problem. Starcraft still doesn't work though. StarEdit.exe works, but StarCraft.exe doesn't. My /cdrom is in winecfg, and compatibility is set to Win95. bnupdate.exe says it doesn't need to run. I am attempting to patch to 1.14.

EDIT #2: Patched successfully to 1.14 by downloading the patch off of Blizzard's web site. Installed the 1.13c no cd crack from GameBurnWorld, hopefully X won't crash.

Aww, the no-cd patch didn't work. It tells me it's missing a required file from the CD. Watch me put the CD in and X crash.

EDIT #3: It was nice enough to tell me I had no space on my hard drive and needed at least 20 MB to play Starcraft before X crashed. Too bad it ignored the 5.6 GB of free space just sitting in my home directory.
