Nethack distorted in rxvt and konsole

When I play nethack on konsole and move some steps, the characters start looking weird. It is like the characters don't disappear even if it has moved away from it's spot. Take a look at this and see what I mean:
http://pastebin.com/658068

In rxvt, I get almost the same kind of problems but some weird marks too. http://pastebin.com/658087

I don't get any problems in aterm (0.4.2), Eterm (0.9.3) or tty. I use Slackware-current, with the most recent packages.

What might be causing this?

Whenever I've encountered this problem, it has been to do with the font being encoded differently in different terminals.

Have you installed the nethack font?

Then, of course, there is: vultures eye

Thank you for the link but I like the original, non-graphical & non-GUI version of NetHack

I installed the nethack fonts but they weren't useful. I use the same encoding and font in aterm and rxvt but still the rxvt has problems and aterm not.

OK - so rxvt just hates nethack.
Don't run nethack in rxvt.

If you really care that much - contact the rxvt maintainer (Steve O: bub@io.com I think) and tell him about it. Chances are the way nethack is handling fonts disagrees with the way rxvt likes to do things. (Nethack basically uses old-style ansi ... you may be able to work around the characters by playing with the settings in ~/.nethackrc.)
