Hitman: Contracts problem in Ubuntu 64-bit 14.04 LTS (Wine)

I have the 2-disc version of Hitman: Contracts, and I had installed from both discs, but when I tried to run the game via Wine the blue Wine screen appeared then exited. I went to the wine website and read:
"Prefix works better on 32-Bit, so for 64-Bit users please do the following:
Code:
rm -fr ~/.wine
export WINEARCH=win32
export WINEPREFIX="/home/USER/.wine"
winecfg
"

I assumed this was to be put in the terminal, and it wiped all the wine data of previously installed games and I had left the Hitman Disc 1 in when I did this, and now when I open Disc 1 I get files written in what I guess is Chinese. I can't seem to get the installer running either. What happened and is there anyway to fix this?

Update: I tried to install IL-2 and the same foreign characters appeared when I opened the disc. I'm guessing the problem is about the change I made with wine, not the disc. Even so, the disc 2 of Hitman hasn't changed like Disc 1, so I could be wrong.

I presume you were using a normal terminal and not a root terminal when you issued those commands, but if not; that might be a problem. I also assume you substituted your username for USER in the above text, don't be insulted if that's obvious..

At any rate, probably the easiest thing is for you to remove WINE and reinstall it (since you've lost your other game data anyway.) As a precaution I'd also check your environment variable at this point (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnvironmentVariables) to make sure WINEARCH and WINEPREFIX are what you think they should be. A reboot never hurts either.

Hope that helps
