Help! where did my quake3 demo install to?

Yes I'm yet another Linux newbie.......but I wanna play my quake demo and i cant find it.
so i downloaded the zip. i opened the zip. i then logged in as root to install. i installed the
sh file from the terminal command line using the "sh filename.gz.sh" format. it looked good, no errors. but...............i cant find where it installed the executable file to. is there anyway i can control where it installs to? i've looked all through many many many many files. doen file searches, it's not in home or usr that i can tell. well i looked in /usr/local/games ...not there. when i type "q3demo" in the terminal, what directory should i be in and should i be logged in as root? from what i've read here i wouldn't want to run in root but that the only place i could install from....

you shouldn't need to be root to run it
only to install it

if all else fails
su to root
type
updatedb

when it's finished
exit to user
and type
locate q3
or
locate q3demo

this should show you where it's "hiding"
