I guess so, but I recently posted a possible explanation and fix for that VLC corrupt LUA module thing. Anyway, it worked for me.

I don't have any way to know or find out, but I believe that permission message is related more to PulseAudio than VLC. Anyway, that's what you mostly find when you search the Internet with that phrase. I use ALSA and don't install PulseAudio, so I don't know anything to do about problems with it.

Not really. I create the bash startup files in /etc/skel as described in chapter 3 of the book. Then any user created with useradd just gets done okay and properly.

I wish I knew a statistic related to that. Anyway, I have been using my BLFS systems nearly exclusively for a number of years, and exclusively every day for maybe a couple of years. I have one XP system left on an offline computer that I still use for video editing work. Everything else I do is done in BLFS systems.
