Question The expect -c "spawn ls" check in section 6.12 of the book gives a segmentation fault

I am trying to build LFS 6.8 on an Ubuntu 11.04 machine. I am getting the following output when I try to run Binutils2.21 Installation check under section 6.12 of the LFS Book.

root:/sources/binutils-2.21# expect -c "spawn ls"
spawn ls
Segmentation fault

I do not understand if this is a problem, since the book states that I should get back a 'spawn ls' and I do get that, though I get a Seg fault afterwards.

I have followed the book except for one change. I automount the LFS partition under /mnt/lfs using the /etc/fstab file on startup. That seems to have worked fine so far. I have also set up the environment for PTY operation using the mounts and then used the chroot command as in the book.

I found the solution for this myself (and learnt a valuable lesson in shell scripting along the way). I was using a shell script to mount devpts, shm, sysfs etc...
