fstab help.

I have had no problems with LFS until now.
I am using LFS manual version 7.4.
I am currently at: 8.2. Creating the /etc/fstab File.

I just do not understand what the flub to put in there. I looked up whether or not I could copy the fstab file on my host system to the LFS system, but I couldn't find an answer. So my question(s) is/are:

1) Can I copy the fstab file from my host OS to my new LFS system.
2) If no, what should I put in the file? I can't follow the manual in the aspect of what to put in it.

Thanks in advance

I would try merely copying the example in the book. Just change <xxx>, <yyy>, and <fff> for your partitions and filesystem type.

I suspect stoat is correct. The LFS book tries to stand-alone in its instructions.

If you want to learn more about fstab, this is the best short tutorial that I've found, though it stops short of addressing UUIDs.

You can copy fstab from the book. The only lines you need to change are these 2:

Code:
/dev/<xxx> / <fff> defaults 1 1
/dev/<yyy> swap swap pri=1 0 0
example:
Code:
/dev/sda1 / ext4 defaults 1 1
Change partition nr for swap in the same way.
If you have a separate /home, add it too.
