There should be only 1 grub-install for the whole system. Or, if you're using a different OS, you can use it's boot loader. I've seen people try to grub-install the drive from the primary OS and then grub-install from from one of the others on to its specific partition. I've seen that work, but leaves a right mess and an invalid disk structure if it doesn't.
Best to just use the bootloader from the host and add a entry for the Linux.
