Chromium is not in latest books, any reason?

Chromium is one of the most used browsers but it is nit in the latest blfs books. Any reason for that?

To build and install latest chromium on LFS someone has to follow google guidelines for compiling chromium or are there any LFS specific guidelines?
Can older blfs book instructions for older versions of chromium be followed for newer versions except for patches which obviously can not be applied to newer versions?

You can try the instructions here:
https://github.com/KeithDHedger/LFSP...omium.LFSBuild

This script is designed to work with my package manager but you can still manually use the relevent commands, built this a couple of weeks ago and its fine with lfs 9.0

finding the build number is a nightmare and there seems to be no easy way of getting it, uou can look at arch toget the latest version ie:
https://commondatastorage.googleapis...owser-official

if you find an easy way to find version numbers let me know

It is easy when you see here: https://packages.gentoo.org/packages...lient/chromium

https://commondatastorage.googleapis...987.132.tar.xz is the current version.
But how can it be installed? In blfs book latest versionis 64: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs.../chromium.html

Are the dependencies the same? Can v 80 be installed without the patch mentioned in the book?
Can v 80 be installed following the proceedure for v 64 (except the patch?)

All versions can be found here:
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+refs
I just found this

As for build and install start with the latest build instructions you can find eg from arch or blfs, and then suck it and see, if a patch fails, it may be because its already been incorporated upstream or the versions are too far apart.

The latest version may not always be the best, or of course you can try another browser, personally I use falkon, its' a lot less resource hungry than chromium.
