Unhappy 6.16.1. Installation of GCC LFS 6.6

Hi i'm using the lfslivecd as the host system and building lfs6.6.
During 6.16.1. Installation of GCC I'm getting the following error when I try

root:/sources/gcc-build# ../gcc-4.4.3/configure --prefix=/usr \
> --libexecdir=/usr/lib --enable-shared \
> --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit \
> --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-languages=c,c++ \
> --disable-multilib --disable-bootstrap

checking for correct version of gmp.h... yes
checking for correct version of mpfr.h... no
configure: error: Building GCC requires GMP 4.1+ and MPFR 2.3.2+.
Try the --with-gmp and/or --with-mpfr options to specify their locations.
Copies of these libraries' source code can be found at their respective
hosting sites as well as at ftp://gcc.gnu.org/pub/gcc/infrastructure/.
See also http://gcc.gnu.org/install/prerequisites.html for additional info.
If you obtained GMP and/or MPFR from a vendor distribution package, make
sure that you have installed both the libraries and the header files.
They may be located in separate packages.
root:/sources/gcc-build#

how do I work around this problem?
help needed.
thanks in advance.

Hi,

In chapter 6 mpfr is installed 2 chapters before gcc (unlike chapter 5, where mpfr was unpacked into the gcc source dir).

Did you by any chance forget that step or did the test fail?

All the test performed in chapters 6.12 to 6.16 are considered critical and you should not continue if either of the fail in any way (unless the error is stated in the book).

You are asking for a work-around: retrace your steps to see what went wrong. Do _not_ add the options that are given in the error message (I'm talking about these options: --with-gmp and/or --with-mpfr). If you need to change any of the commands in the book something went wrong and you will get in trouble later on.

Hope this helps.
