Is there any method available to expand a source rpm package? I'm trying to learn about rpm packages and source packages. I would like to see one already built. I have the source rpms publised by Red Hat.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this? I've done some research on rpmbuild and notice the following command:
rpmbuild --pipe --nobuild /source package name
Will the above command accomplish what I'm looking for? I'd also like to run the package and trace it during execution.
I tried you suggestion and found that I do not have rpm2tgz on my system. How to I acquire this uitlity? I also tried your suggestion of "tar zxfv packagename. This did not work either. Maybe you can't expand a source rpm package?
I'm going to continue looking for some way to do this. Do you have any more suggestion?
