trying to install slack ....

Hi. I have installed and used Redhat 7.2 successfully. Use linux to learn the OS plus C and various languages. I am now getting rid of redhat for slack. I have a hardddisk (30gig) divided in two. Win 98 is on 1st 25gig and linux on last 5 gigs. I booted off the cd (Slack 8.1) and typed cfdisk and got an error saying 'can't open disk' or something similiar. Also when I do a 'fdisk -l' it reports this drive as hdb although it's the only harddrive I have hooked up at the moment. Could this be because of the Harddrive's jumpers? This drive was a slave on a 2 drive system and I have'nt changed the jumpers to make it a master drive.

Anyways I basically need to know how to setup my partitions on the last 5gigs of this harddrive that will dual boot 'Win98/slack'

And any help on why cfdisk wont work appreciated.
If I can't get cfdisk to work what commands should I type to setup my partitions and then format them on this 5 gigs using fdisk??

thanks alot

Your hd problem: it's because of jumpers. It's a good idea to set the jumpers correctly before installing (if not, you'll need to change all 'hdb's into 'hda's later...).
