Small Distro install to Hard Drive

I'm looking for a small Linux Distro that will install to the hard drive. I don't want a live-cd.

Something that will fit into about 1GB of space with room left over.
I am going to need some kind of window manager and certain applications.

It would help if it was easy to install or at least add programs too.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Not sure why you don't want to install from a live CD or I would recommend Zipslack without reservation. Damn Small Linux also has a growing fan club.
If you want a list of all available distros then work your way through the following.

http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/

You can forget all the main stream distros, just pick out a few of the smaller ones and then google to their websites. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Zipslack or Damn Small Linux would be my pick if I were going for limited space.

I didn't think a live-cd would work, because they don't recommend installing to hard drive.
For example, I noticed this when reading the Damn Small Linux information.

Zipslack looks interesting.
