RH9 - GNOME panel freezes on log out

I'm a Linux , I just installed Red Hat 9 onto a clean 40 gb HDD. Everything seems to be working fine, except it's impossible to log out of GNOME. When I try to log out from the panel, nothing happens, and the panel freezes up. I can restart the panel by using the task manager, but it will just do the same thing, the only way to log out is to force quit GNOME from the task manager.

I haven't changed any settings, except for a little bit of network fussing (which I did after this first happened).

I have a similar problem, working on it.

But if I use "shut down" instead of "log out" the system shuts down properly.
