I Need Help with Red Hat 7.3
I am new to Linux, but want to learn.
I do a full install and everything goes fine....for a while.
It starts installing the packages, and goes fine until
it gets to disk 3.
It says my disk 3 is the wrong disk.
I have tried about 3 different copies of disk 3 and none
of them work.
What Am I doing wrong?
Please Help?
No sarcastic responses, only genuine help please.

You said you used three copies of the 3rd CD, did you by any chance use the same iso file to burn all three? If so, try downloading another copy of the iso for the third CD.
BTW, you should have, and probably still should start a new thread for this
To each his own. To load an OS like Linux you must be prepared to learn what it is you are installing (GASP!) Yes Red Hat is bloated. Trim it down. Run ntsysv --level 35 and deselect services you are not using. Do a custom install, select the packages you want, and if you're running X Windows, make sure you have at least 128 MB. Also, do not save the desktop with all kinds of applications open so that you end up loading more programs than you need to at boot - just like in windows.
Linux's (any dstro.) major advantage is customization. If you like how Slackware does this, but how FreeBSD does that, port it together on your box. You will learn alot about the OS in the process, and, if you really stay with it, you can end up helping the developers who create these programs. That means that your little rants will actually be heard and considered by the people creating the programs.
Also, if you only want to use Linux as a workstation, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. It will never be what Windows is because the open-source community cannot leverage hardware vendors like Microsoft does so that they will program correct drivers for the OS, or give the technical specs. to program the drivers themselves. However, Linux IS an excellent workstation when customized and configured properly.
