Question RedHat 7.2 ---> Redhat 8.0

Hi,

What's the easies way to upgrade a RH7.2 system to RH8.0 ?
Can I just install RH8.0 over RH7.2 or do I need
to start like a fresh install (re-fromat, etc. etc.)

Regards,

Marc

boot the disk and select upgrade system

or backup your files and install from scratch.

Just as a side not here. I would not upgrade to 8.0 ... I think 8.0 is something like bullshitty somehow. For instance the RPM database can be easily damaged ... that's shit. I've been installing the db1 rpm and netsnmp-tools afterwards and I got a damaged rpm library, making it impossible to rebuild it ... on 7.3 I did not have any of those probs!

Thanks for the answers,

I asked this question, with in mind Windoze uprades and
all the problems. When upgrading Windoze a lot of unuzed and
unnecessary files stay hanging around, etc. etc.

When just upgrading with upgrade button, does it not leave a lot of unused files behind.

Better not to install RH8.0,
Wait a while so that it stabilize itself?
or
install 7.3 (as markus suggest)?

Yeh go with 7.3 i find it better than 7.2, though i have not tried 8.0 yet, but like markus said it does look a bit 'bullshitty'....i usually just do an upgrade...can anyone answer if it matters???

normally you will have a lot of files that are renamed from .rpm to .rpmnew

8.0 also has a rollback feature

Knowing a website that tested this feature already ?
