I have an old 90 mhz computer and I want to try to install Lycoris to see if it will work on my machine. I have an iso of it but I don't know how to make a boot disk for the CD. How do I make a boot disk?

I don't think lycoris doesn't has a boot disk, it boots from the CD, an old 90mhz computer might not be able to boot the CD. Press del on startup and check the bios to see if it can boot from the CD.

i wouldn't bother with that on a p 90, it will be sooooooo slow. Lycoris is targetted very strongly at newbies with fast computers, and doesn't come with much to work on slow machines. choose a different distro like mandrake or redhat

You're right, Lycoris does suggest a 300 MHz system at the very least. Considering that you can buy a system without a monitor for as little as $199 and a complete system for around $400, this isn't too unreasonable. Wal-Mart and Tiger Direct are two places that come to mind where you can get systems that can easily run various versions of Linux. The ones at Wal-Mart can be preinstalled with Lycoris Desktop/LX. I can tell you from personal experience that Desktop/LX runs adequately on a 400 MHz AMD system and VERY WELL on a 1 GHz Dell Dimension 4100. So the low end systems sold at Wal-Mart by Microtel will work just fine.

yeah. get the $200 walmart computer. as far as the 90mhz - i've installed redhat on a 90mhz at work. used blackbox as my window manager. but if you're new to linux and want to try the perty gui's seriously consider forking over the 200 usd

Last I looked on the Wal-Mart site, apparently they are either not offering or not promoting the bottom end $199 systems any more (perhaps they've sold out) but they do have some 1.3 GHz models that are still pretty reasonably priced, and those systems ought to perform extremely well with Desktop/LX, particularly considering the fact that my best system is a Dell Dimension 4100 desktop system with a 1 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and a single 40 GB disk (and that works exceptionally well).
