Where do I find software for Desktop/LX?
You can find software for Desktop/LX from several places:
The Lycoris "Iris" Software Gallery. Installation is via flower, System Management, Install new software. NOTE: Requires purchase of Desktop/LX and a Product ID. To view what software is currently available, go to
http://www.lycoris.com/webservices/iris/
The "Downloads" section of Lycoris.org at
http://www.lycoris.org/download.php. This is a community-maintained software repository.
Coming soon, Tux-Apps.com, a community and developer website dedicated to applications for the Desktop/LX platform.
As Desktop/LX is based on the Caldera Workstation 3.1 distribution, many RPM's available for that distribution will work with Desktop/LX. Check out websites such as
http://www.rpmfind.net.
If you have installed the DevTools CD, you can compile Linux software from source code obtained from websites such as
http://www.freshmeat.net and
http://www.sourceforge.net. If the source code is available in a source RPM, you can perform the command rpm --rebuild source_rpm_name to compile and build the software onto your system.
Another website for both source code, packages, and software for purchase is
http://www.linuxapps.com
