New release 24.05.10 - Lilidog and Beardog

These are currently in the Sourceforge entry from the links below, and from the right side panel in the forum, and should be available from the mega entry in the next day or so, or possibly sooner.

Sourceforge Download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lil...iles/Releases/
Mega Download: https://mega.nz/folder/k10nBLQA#PsCLoIYpMrizkgZDDsJsuQ

This release was focused on adding awesomeWM and i3WM to the installers in order to provide two new options to the installers list. Both are fully usable, with custom keybinds added to match the existing Lilidog keybinds as closely as possible. Awesome also has an installer option for the full conky setup as found in Lilidog openbox if interested.

i3 is currently setup to use polybar with window names, though the original i3statusbar is available for those who prefer it. Note that using polybar does remove some of the prompts normally associated with i3. This can be changed in the i3 configuration by commenting out polybar in the ~/.config/i3/config autostart section, and un-commenting the necessary lines for i3status use starting on line 236. Figuring out how to best address this issue is still a work in progress.

This concludes the addition of the tiny window managers for now, providing a decent mix to choose from, including awesomeWM, dkWM, dWM, i3WM, and soWM, with and without borders. Further efforts will be focused on improving Lilidog in general for the next release or two. Further development of these WM's will continue as well, and will not require a reinstall of the distro to experience the changes. Stay tuned to the forum for updates on any of these. You will be able to reinstall through the installers, and a backup will be made.

There are also new dialog options to install the different window managers. The installers can be found in the Lilidog installers under "system", or in Beardog, under the 'utility installers', or, there is also a new general entry in the "System" section of the full menu (debian) labeled as 'Window Manager Installers'.

As Beardog does not have a login manager out of the box, after installation of any of the WM's, you will need to edit ~/.xsessionrc and change the entry from openbox to whatever you have installed, or want to use, if installing multiple WM's. The other option is to install a login manager. Lightdm has a custom installer available in the utility installers, and in the welcome screen after installation of the distro.

The use of these installers instead of directly placing them in the distro gives more control over what is included in your system, the way you want it.

Also included in this release are two minor fixes. One to the conky 12 hour to 24 hour toggle, which will now include the existing large clock on the right of the screen when activated, and a change to the display adjustment icon in the bottom panel while in a VM session, making a single click on the button fix the display issue that occurs after changing the resolution, while a right click on the same icon gives access to the resolution changer.

As usual, please let us know of any questions or issues you may have.

Below are screenshots of awesome an i3 in a Lilidog install.

New release 24.05.24 Lilidog and Beardog

Sourceforge Downloads https://sourceforge.net/projects/lil...iles/Releases/
Mega Downloads https://mega.nz/folder/k10nBLQA#PsCLoIYpMrizkgZDDsJsuQ

This release ties together the work with the smaller WM's with Openbox, along with a few changes and additions to the installers. Here's what's new:

- Installer dialog adjustment to remove the redundant "Install" before every entry.
- Change to every installer to provide it's own "press to close" line within the code rather than the menu entry.
- Adjusted the backports kernel installer to install the correct version of headers to match the installed kernel.
- Beardog - Switch to the regular full installers, providing a wider range of options in a better format.
- Added a Debian Mirror changer to both the entry script, and the standard installers. This searches for a faster debian mirror.
- Added a Plymouth background changer to the menu under "Configuration" in the Full addition. The script itself is available in all the builds.
- Added an rtile installer to the Utility Installers menu, to provide grid tiling in openbox.
- Added the fasttrack virtualbox installer back into the builds.
- Changed the tint2 icon for the "themes" menu to a landscape icon from the hamburger icon. (see screenshot)
- Removed the dkwm uninstaller from the installers menu, though it is still present in the builds if desired.
- Added size "14" to the tint2 iconsize dialog and removed size "34". Just better overall options.
- Adjusted the openbox keybinds to better match the other WM's available from the installers. Use
"super + o" to see the current openbox keybinds.
- Changed the sxhkdrc keybinds to match the other WM's for opening jgmenu, rofi, and dmenu.
- Changed the shortcuts conky to reflect the sxhkdrc changes.
- Added a hotcorners toggle to the sxhkdrc keybinds as "super + z"
- Added volume and brightness controls to the sxhkdrc, using pamixer and brightnessctl. The standard XF86 keys are used..
- Removed the pnmixer slide meter from the tray icon.
- Wallpaper exchange with several new wallpapers.

Dosent seem to be gaining much traction. Looks like dropping in interest more than gaining in interest. Gained 5 votes and dropped one spot in the rankings of distrowatch voting.

shortarcflyer,
per the rules:
Quote:
Do not post if you do not have anything constructive to say in the post.
Seems like distrowatch has their process and requirements for listing a distribution and I do not if they actually inform the distribution owner where they are in that process. I do not know the situation between the two of you but we also do not allow insults or personal attacks.

The OP has complained of trolling which maybe a bit stretching things but your posts for whatever reason were unnecessary.

Yes, it is definitely trolling. Just pointless garbage that distracts from anything worthwhile and muddles up the thread and your forum. I debated whether to answer any further, and decided that even though it's best most of the time to leave things go, it is sometimes needed to address the issue.

@shortarcflyer used to be a moderator on the Lilidog forum and was relieved from his position for posting content that he was asked not to. Repeatedly. When he finally lost his moderator privileges, he decided to remove himself from the forum with a final announcement, and began asking the troll questions you see at the start of this thread. At first, I decided to answer his questions here, as they were valid regardless of the source, but it became obvious he wasn't going to stop making disparaging remarks that served no purpose other than distraction. This now makes the third forum I know of where he has been asked to stop or do things differently based on his postings. Are there others as well?

I, like everyone else who shares content, does so freely without any expectation of return other than a modicum of maturity and regard for others. That is all I would expect from anyone who has spent time in a linux forum. As far as Distrowatch itself goes, I have no illusions or expectations from them. They will choose to do whatever they do, whenever they do it, and that is fine by me. My assumption is that they will include Lilidog whenever they feel it is ready, and until that time, if ever, I will strive to improve Lilidog in any way I can.

Thank you for allowing me to post the new Lilidog releases as they occur, and the ability to answer any questions asked. I will always try to give back to the community in any way I can. Thank you also for addressing my concern here in a timely manner. I too, am sorry for any distraction or ill feelings caused. My intention in reporting this issue was to have it resolved quietly, without all of this, but I suppose sometimes these things can not be avoided. All the best to the community. Regards, sleekmason

You left out the part about the monetary amounts he donated to your cause, the help with the distro with testing, the help with the forum, the concern he had for you and your family during you all's struggles, and the part about the get well card sent when you were undergoing your medical issues. But yet in all of that time, he refused all recognition or pats on the back for his work. If you are going to tell a story, it is best to tell all sides of it dont you think? I wish you well with your endeavour.

I like the fact that you let the user control his install with the installers.

Being a Icewm user myself, It is appreciated.
