I'm still stuck with Window$ until I get the money for my computer and until then I decided to read a book about Debian. It explains the installation and how to install X and GNOME. However, it says nothing about KDE. From screenshots, I kinda decided that KDE would fit my tastes better, but the book doesn't explain how to set it up. Can anyone help? After installation, how would I set up KDE?
I just want to add one thing. Usually questions about installation and configuration can be found in the documentation. If you are confused about something with KDE you can head over here and have a little read.
However, crashmeister is right. Debian will install the KDE window manager for you. It is just up to you to make it your preferred/default window manager.
Well, in the book it says that during installation, you must choose all packages that start with X and GNOME. Then, after you're done, you set up X and GNOME. How do you set up KDE instead of GNOME?
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, it maybe should go in newbie forum).
Zander,
just install kde with whatever frontend to apt you use.
It is really easy, depending on where you are at with your installation it will install everything you need including x and, and, and.
If in doubt what you need and you don't want too much stuff installed just install konqueror.
That will put the kde-base and everything it needs to work on your box.
