How can we create .bin file for packing the software.

I wanted to package the software as software.bin. I have seen lot of software are distrubting as *.bin format. It looks nice.

I wanted to package my software in the same fashion. Can any one tell me how can we do it.

*.bin is usually Windows. What exactly do you want to make a package out of and for whom (system - distro - deb/rpm etc)?

The shar command can create auto-extractible archives.
I know there's a command, based on this idea, that will further launch a program from the archive contents, but I can't remember its name…
Anyway, it's not hard to do, so you could maybe create it yourself.

Yves.
