Smile Elive Linux 1.6 + HACK!!!

Hi Everyone Elive 1.6 dev is out, it has a lot of improvements, and it looks really cool, it has the new kernel 2.6.24.2, also it has new nvidia and ati drivers on the iso so there is no need to download it from the site, on the live cd, it now supports autologin.
I currently have elive up and running on my desktop and laptop, and I just took out some screenshots of most of the programs I use in elive E programs that is [E programs = programs created by enlightenment developers]. all of the programs i take screen shot of are in elive by default or you need to download it via apt-get. ahh u can take a look at the change log at
http://www.elivecd.org/Main/News/80
ok

Time to show OFF my screenshots

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAM...ire+eclair.png < This image shows 2 programs Elitaire [cards game] and
eclair [the media player[cd player]]

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAM...dje_viewer.png < This images shows off Elpanel [Elive System Control Panel
[the thing that makes your life easy]] and EdjeViewer, this program allows you to look into and .edj file and see how it works.

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAM...edjeeditor.png < This images shows off enity[this program allows you to create little GUI dialogs it's easy to use and understand and looks great too] Edje_editor[ hehe this monster allows you to edit edje, this is a program people have been asking for for a long time].

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAMD/entrance.png < This Baby is Entrance, a very sexy SEXY, Login Manager, say good bye to GDM KDM XDM and the others and say Hello Entrance!!!!.

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAMD/ephys+elicit.png < on the left it's E_phys_demo this is a nice program, it's fun to play with, it's not a game, but it's run to play with, it's a program about physics and how every action has a reaction, and then there is elicit on the left a nice little tool for magnify stuff.

http://uploaded.elivecd.org/PrinceAM...it+entropy.png < This image really does explain it's self BUT if you really need to know, on the left it's exhibit the only program you would need to use to view any image, and on the right it's entropy a file manager.

oh i totally forgot to tell you, it's Dual Monitor so the images is really big

also here is a little hack to get it to install

Elive 1.6 Dev HACKED TO BE INSTALLED!!!
Frist load up the cd
open a terminal, login as root
open gparted and make a partiton for elive 1.6 to install on to remember the name [i recommend reiserfs filesystem ]
[e.g /dev/sda2] then exit
make a mount point for the partition [e.g /mnt/sda2 ]
mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2 -t $filesystem-type
mkdir /mnt/squashfs
mount /elive/.mnt/cdrom/system/filesystem.squashfs /mnt/squashfs -t squashfs -o loop
cp -a /mnt/squashfs/* /mnt/sda2
cp -a /elive/.mnt/cdrom/boot/* /mnt/sda2/boot
grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/sda2 /dev/sda
mount --bind /dev /mnt/sda2/dev
mount --bind /proc /mnt/sda2/proc
chroot /mnt/sda2
update-initramfs -u
#########################################
Video Drivers
#########################################
if you have new nvidia card do
dpkg -i `ls /elive/modules/nvidia/new/*`
kinda old drivers
dpkg -i `ls /elive/modules/nvidia/96/*`
old drivers
dpkg -i `ls /elive/modules/nvidia/71/*`

If u have NEW ati card do
dpkg -i `ls /elive/modules/ati/*` [have not tested]
#########################################
update-grub
nano /boot/grub/menu.lst
on the line that you seekernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24.2-elive-686 add " root=/dev/sda2 vga=788 " and remove any other options.
exit [THIS DO NOT MEAN EXIT THE TERMINAL, JUST TYPE EXIT TO EXIT CHROOT]
umount /mnt/sda2/dev
umount /mnt/sda2/proc
cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /mnt/sda2/etc/X11/xorg.conf
cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/sda2/etc/resolv.conf
cp /etc/hosts /mnt/sda2/etc/hosts
reboot ur pc now and see if it works
after reboot and entrance loads login as root with no password
open elpanel and create newuser account for yourself and family
and change root password to something strong

The links that don't have "..." in them work fine, the rest need to have the full URL written out.
