debian on loopback?
I know it's been done before, but there isn't too much documentation out there. I am going to try installing Debian onto an ext2 loop image on my FAT partition, hda2. I have successfully installed a loop Slackware (Topologi lite), but Debian is what I really want, I need apt-get. I just don't know where to start; I can create the swap and rootfs images fine but I am not sure how I will tell the Debian installer to install to the loop device. Is there some way to tell the installer this, or will I have to download a base filesystem image, then manually set up the system? Oh, I won't be able to use the internet from linux until quite a few things are set up. My crappy winmodem is supported, but it is hard to set up. However, I can download files in windows then access them from linux.
Thanks a ton,
Kameron
Also, if there is some way to easily, automagically update Slackware to current, please tell me. Autoslack hasn't worked. Then I wont have to do ANY of this Debian stuff!
